SODEXHO PAN ASIAN NETWORK GROUP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
 

The US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) is accepting applications for the Sodexho Pan Asian Network Group Scholarship.  Sodexho is the leading food and facilities management services company in North America and a member of Sodexho Alliance. The mission of the Sodexho Pan Asian Network Group (PANG) is to foster a corporate environment at Sodexho that embraces and values the cultural diversity of its employees, by enhancing individual and professional growth of Pan Asians and increasing the awareness of Pan Asian cultures, thereby contributing to the success of the company,

 

Sodexho and PANG have established this scholarship with USPAACC.  It provides financial assistance to Asian American* college juniors, who have demonstrated scholastic achievement, active involvement in volunteer community service and are pursuing education at an accredited 4 year educational institution in the United States in Food Service Management, Hotel Restaurant Institution Management, Facilities Management or similar programs leading to a Bachelor’s degree.

 

The Sodexho Pan Asian Network Group Scholarship will provide financial assistance to one student each year.  The scholarship is valued at $5,000.

 

The award recipient will be announced on May 5 as part of a special luncheon during USPAACC’s National Conference, CelebrAsian 2005, to be held on May 4-6 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. CelebrAsian is the largest annual national Asian American business conference in the United States and the only national business conference designed for the Asian American community.

 

Scholarship Criteria

 

The applicant should be:

·         At least 17 years of age at the time of application

·         Of Asian heritage*

·         A citizen or permanent resident of the United States

·         Enrolled in full-time study at an accredited post-secondary 4 year educational institution in the United States, enrolled as a sophomore or a junior in the Fall of 2005 in Business Management, preferably Food Service Management, Hotel Restaurant Institution Management, Facilities Management or similar programs leading to a Bachelor’s degree.

·         Able to attend the Scholarship Awards Ceremony on May 5, 2005 in Washington, DC (all expenses paid)

Willing to commit to an 8 week paid internship with Sodexho in the Summer of 2006 if selected by Sodexho

The applicant should demonstrate:

·         Academic excellence with a 3.0 GPA or higher

·         Leadership in extracurricular activities

·         Community service involvement

 

The applicant should furnish. (Please send all the documents to us in one package)

·         An application for the Sodexho Pan Asian Network Group Scholarship

·         Information on the proposed course of study and associated costs

·         Transcripts of schooling in the past two years

·         Two letters of recommendation from those listed as references: one from the educational institution, and one from the community service organization (In sealed envelopes)

·         500 word essay on: How do you plan to use your special talents to achieve your professional goals

·         A 100 words bio.

 

(Application and all supporting materials will be kept confidential; application and letters of recommendation will not be returned.)

 

The scholarship:

·         Must be used for a full-time course of study at an accredited college and/or university commencing in the Fall of 2005

·         Will be paid directly to the recipient’s college and/or university

Will not pay for correspondence courses, internet courses or study in a country other than the United States.
