The US
Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) is accepting
applications for the Asian American Scholarship Fund.
This Fund provides financial assistance to Asian American high
school seniors, who have demonstrated scholastic achievements,
financial need and will pursue post-secondary education at an
accredited educational institution in the United States.
The
Asian American Scholarship Fund was established in 1989.
The scholarship is valued up to $5,000.
Award
recipients will be announced at the 17th Annual
Excellence Awards program, which will be held in
Irvine, California on May 2005, during Asian Pacific American
Heritage Month. The Annual Excellence Awards
recognize the contributions Asian Americans have made toward
education, business, arts, entertainment, sports, science,
public and community service.
Scholarship Criteria
The applicant
should be:

At least 16 years of age at the time of application
·
Of Asian heritage
·
A citizen or permanent resident of the United States
·
Beginning full-time study at an accredited post-secondary
educational institution in the United States in the Fall of
2005
·
Able to attend the 17th Annual Excellence Awards program in May
2005
The applicant should
demonstrate:
·
Academic
excellence with a 3.3 GPA or higher
·
Leadership in extracurricular activities
·
Community
service involvement
·
Financial
need
The applicant should
furnish. (Please send all the documents to us in one
package):
·
An application for the
Asian American Scholarship.
·
Information on the proposed course of study and associated costs
·
Transcripts of schooling in the past two years
·
Two
letters of recommendation from those listed as references: one
from the high school, and one from a community service
organization (in sealed envelopes)
·
An essay
of 500 words on: Why I need this scholarship
·
A 100
words bio and a 2 x 2 photo (Don’t use scan picture)
(Application and all supporting
materials will be kept confidential; application and
letters of recommendation will not be returned.)
The scholarship:
·
Must be
used for a full-time course of study at an accredited college
and/or university commencing in the Fall of 2005
·
Will be
paid directly to the recipient’s college and/or university
·
Will not
pay for correspondence courses, internet courses or study in a
country other than the
United
States
