The US
Pan Asian American Chamber of
Commerce (USPAACC) is accepting
applications for the Bruce Lee
Scholarship. Established in
honor of the legendary movie actor,
known globally for his martial arts
films, the Bruce Lee Scholarship
will provide financial assistance to
a student with strong character, who
has persevered and prevailed over
adversity, and who will pursue
post-secondary education at an
accredited educational institution
in the United States. The
scholarship is valued up to $5,000.
The Award
recipients will be announced during our
23rd Annual CelebrAsian Business
Opportunity Conference ’08,
on May, 2008 in Washington, DC, during Asian Pacific
American Heritage Month. The Annual
Conference recognizes the
contributions Asian Americans have made
toward education, business, the arts,
entertainment, sports, science, public
and community services.
Scholarship
Criteria
The applicant should be:

At
least 16 years of age at the time of
application
-
Of
Asian Pacific Island heritage
-
A
citizen or permanent resident of the
United States
-
Beginning full-time study at an
accredited post-secondary
educational institution in the
United States in
Fall
2008
-
Able to
attend the 23rd
Annual CelebrAsian
Business Opportunity Conference 08 on
May
,
2008 in
Washington, DC

applicant should furnish the

a 2 x 2 crisp headshot photo(scanned
pictures will not be accepted;
staple the upper right hand
corner of the photo in the photo
area of the application)

describing extracurricular
activities, academic honors, and

(maximum, 2 pages)

A 100
word biography
-
An
essay of 500 words on Adversities
I Have Overcome,
typed, double-spaced and signed by
the applicant and his/her academic guidance
counselor on the upper right hand
corner

Transcripts from high school
capturing the past two years of
coursework
-
A copy
of most the recent household tax return
signed by taxpayer(s)
-
Two
letters of recommendation from those
listed as references in the
application: (1) one from high
school, and (1) one from a community
service organization
(recommendations must be in sealed
envelopes)

Information on proposed
post-secondary course of study
(major) and associated costs
(tuition/room/board from one
university being applied for)

do not send additional materials

Award Information

Must be used for a full-time
course of study at an accredited
college or university commencing
in the
Fall of 2008

Will be paid directly to the
recipient’s college or
university to help to defray the
cost of tuition, fees and/or
board
-
Will not pay for correspondence
courses, internet courses or
study in a country other than
the United States
-
Will pay for travel, lodging and
participation at the 23rd Annual
CelebrAsian Business Opportunity
Conference in May 2008 in
Washington, DC where the
scholarship Award will be
presented
USPAACC reserves the right to verify
the accuracy of the information
contained in the submitted
application package.
Application and all supporting
materials will be kept confidential;
application materials will not be
returned.
Scholarship funds will be paid directly
to the college of recipients’ choice and
will be used for college tuition only,
not for
any related or associated cost.
Application and supporting materials
must be postmarked by
