Scholarship Frequently Asked Questions

Q:      When will the scholarship recipients be notified?

A:      Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid-April.  Due to the thousands of scholarship applications we receive, we will ONLY notify the awardees.

Q:      It says that the transcript from the past two years are needed, however my school only provides transcripts in 4-year format.  Is it still acceptable?

A:      Yes.  It is fine to give us the transcripts in the format that schools provide.

Q:      Does the transcript need to be official?

A:      Yes.

Q:      What if I don't have anybody outside of school to write a recommendation?

A:      USPAACC scholarship applications require two recommendations; the outside-of-school recommendation is a requirement.  The outside-of-school recommendation will enable the scholarship committee members to evaluate and better understand your achievements outside of academia.

Q:      What is the scholarship selection process?

A:      The USPAACC Scholarship Committee consists of community leaders from both the public and the private sectors, who will review applications and evaluate each criterion based on the individual scholarship requirements and the information provided by the applicants.  The committee members will select awardees and recommend to the USPAAACC President/CEO for final review and certification.  After the scholarship recipients are selected, they will be notified by mail and have to confirm their willingness to attend USPAACC's CelebrAsian National Conference in May.  As part of the scholarship award program, USPAACC will provide travel arrangements and hotel accommodations to all scholarship recipients.

Q:      What is the amount of the scholarships?

A:      It depends on the scholarship sponsors.  Each sponsor will provide a one-time scholarship in the range of $2,000 to $5,000.  USPAACC will send the scholarship directly to the school the recipient will attend in the fall.

Q:      Do you have to be Asian American to receive the Bruce Lee Scholarship?

A:      No, the Bruce Lee Scholarship is open to all applicants who are either US citizens or legal permanent residents.

Q:      What scholarships are offered each year?

A:      We will post the most updated information on our scholarships sponsors on our website by the beginning of November.  The deadline to submit applications is usually by the end of February.  Please do not rely on previous years' information because it may change.

Q:      Could you mail me the scholarship application?

A:      No.  The application can be downloaded from our website.  Please wait for the current applications to be posted on our website.  In special situations, if you have problem downloading the application, you can contact us and we will email you the application in PDF format.

Q:      Could I apply multiple scholarships if I qualify?

A:      Yes.  You can apply to any scholarships for which you are qualified.  However, you are required to submit an application with the required documents in separate envelopes for each scholarship that you apply for.  Multiple applications submitted in a single envelope will not be considered.

Q:      Is any picture acceptable?

A:      Passport sized photographs or yearbook type photographs are preferred.  Photographs should be 2"x2" in size with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI or higher.  Please ensure that you have a good quality photo, because the photo ill be used in the program book for CelebrAsian 07 and on USPAACC's website if you are selected as a scholarship recipient.
