PROCUREMENT COLLOQUY ON HOW
TO WIN CORPORATE CONTRACTS HELD BY
US PAN ASIAN AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (USPAACC)
MIDWEST CHAPTER IN CHICAGO
Chicago, IL—The procurement colloquy “E-Sourcing: Winning
Corporate Contracts in a New Economy” was held by the US
Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) Midwest
Chapter at Exelon Corporation in Chicago on December 9,
2004 to help Asian American entrepreneurs win more
contract opportunities in corporate America and in the
federal/state government.
More than 60 Asian American
suppliers from food, information technology, staffing,
advertising/marketing, environmental engineering, travel
and other industries registered. They met with
corporations such as CNA, ConAgra Foods, Exelon (venue
sponsor and host corporation), Kellogg's (luncheon
sponsor), Kraft Foods, Sara Lee, State Farm, and Verizon
Communications (title sponsor), as well as government
agency representatives from the City of Chicago
Procurement, Cook County Procurement, State of Illinois
Procurement, U.S. Department of Commerce - MBDA, and the
U.S. Small Business Administration.
The
procurement colloquy was specifically designed for Asian
American- and minority-owned businesses that want to do
business with major corporations and government agencies.
It is one in a series of business colloquies to be held
across the United States in the year-long 20th
anniversary celebration of USPAACC, culminating in May
4-6, 2005 in Washington, DC at the CelebrAsian
2005—the largest Asian American business conference in the
United States and the only national conference designed
for the Asian American business community.
“For two decades, we have
been opening doors of contract, educational and
professional opportunities to Asian Americans and their
business partners in corporate America and the federal
government,” USPAACC National President and CEO Susan
Allen said. “By bringing this business colloquy to the
Midwest, we hope to help the local businesses gain access
to more procurement opportunities and become more
competitive in the current marketplace.”
“This
is yet another of USPAACC’s many programs that reaches out
to Asian American entrepreneurs who want to effectively
compete in mainstream America,” USPAACC Midwest Chapter
President Varghese Chacko said. “We are encouraged by the
participation of those who wanted to learn more about
e-sourcing and other procurement issues, and we hope to
bring a similar forum to this region in the near future.”
